We have used a technique called "tatakidashi" in which a plate-shaped tin is beaten with various types of hammers by a skilled craftsman to create a shape.
Patterns are added to simple shapes such as squares and octagons. A special hammer was used for the finishing touch and each one was manually hammered. This hammer pattern is not only a design, but also has the effect of making scratches on the surface less noticeable.
Tin is antibacterial and is ideal for chopstick rests.
